Directorate of the Professional Development Center

The Directorate of the Professional Development Center (PDC) is a cadre position that operates under the direct influence of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. This office was formally added to the formation of Ghazni University in the early fourth quarter of 2022. In 2023, the position of General Manager for the PDC was introduced to the structure of this office.

Since its inclusion in the formation of Ghazni University, an experienced Assistant professor and member of the academic staff of the Agronomy Department of the Faculty of Agriculture was proposed as the director of this center by the Ghazni University administration and, with the approval of the esteemed Ministry of Higher Education, has been responsible for the management of this department until now. Assistant Professor Ahmad Reza Salihy, the director of the PDC of Ghazni University, has a master's degree in Agronomy and has experience in managing the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. He was appointed as a member of the academic staff of Ghazni University in 2008 with the establishment of the university and has been committed to fulfilling his assigned duties.

The Directorate of the PDC is responsible for promoting various educational and guidance programs in the form of seminars, conferences, workshops and training sessions in order to strengthen and develop the professional and specialized capacities of the academic members. The scope of the aforementioned programs ranges from leadership and administrative to scientific, teaching, research, technology and laboratory issues. The basis for planning and organizing such programs is needs assessment, evaluation of implemented programs, requests for professional and specialized requirements of academic members, instructions from skilled authorities, task lists and evaluations of priorities. To realize the planned programs, the Directorate and manager of this center work and strive in coordination and cooperation with the relevant departments. To obtain advice and improve the planning and implementation of programs, a professional development committee has been established. The formation of the said committee is valid for one year after the approval of the university’s academic council. The members of this committee, most of whom are members of the university’s academic staff, work under the direct supervision of the V.C. for Academic Affairs. The main task of this committee is to provide advice on professional and specialized matters to enhance the professional capacity of academic and administrative staff members, advising on the selection of the types and subject of the program, the quality and quantity of the program, and other matters related to this department. In addition to the above, this department is responsible for preparing its annual budget at the beginning of the fiscal year and sending it to the competent authorities for inclusion in the university’s budget. In addition to organizing and implementing planned programs, this office coordinates, facilitates, and implements other unplanned educational and guidance programs that arise during the year. A summary of the programs implemented by this department from its inception to now (beginning of the second quarter of the fiscal year 2025) that have been implemented at Ghazni University is as follows:

Since the position of the Director of the PDC is a cadre position, its director, in addition to advancing the affairs of this center, is responsible for advancing teaching, research, preparing draft rules and regulations, preparing various checklists on the subject, evaluating, drawing conclusions, and implementing them, guiding students in the field of his specialty, and other academic and administrative responsibilities. Such as: membership in the university's academic council, responsibility for the professional development committee, membership in the central research committee, curriculum, quality improvement and accreditation, faculty academic council, sub-curriculum subcommittee, and department council are matters that are somehow related to the duties of this center and academic activities.
